The Changbai Mountain Range is a mountain range on the border between China and North Korea. It is also referred to as the Å anggiyan, Jangbaek, or Ohnan mountains. In Russia this range is called "Vostochno-Manchzhurskie gory" ("East Manchurian mountain range") and considered as a part of more long Manchu-Korean mountain range ("Manchzuro-Koreiskie gory"), which separates China from Korea and Russian Primorsky Krai.
The range extends from the Northeast Chinese provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning to the North Korean provinces of Ryanggang and Chagang. Most peaks exceed 2,000 metres in height, with the highest mountain being Changbai Mountain.
Changbai Mountain (长白山) is located in the southeastern part of Jilin City near the boundary of China and North Korea.  The mountain's name means "ever white" for the snow and pumice stones on its peaks.  Changbai is a dormant volcano boasting rare animals, lush forests, clear lakes and bubbling hot springs.  The most beautiful of the lakes is Tian Chi (or Heavenly Lake), the deepest alpine lake in China.
Picturesque Changbai Mountain is in southeast of northeast China's Jilin province. It is the place where the Songhua River, Tumen River and Yalu River originate.
