The 11th Annual Luojia Autumn International Cultural Festival was held in both Guiyuan and Meiyuan, Wuhan University from Nov. 22nd to Nov. 23rd, 2015.
This year’s theme was “One Belt, One Road and One Family” to promote peace, harmony, understanding of having different cultures and respect each other's differences. The event signify the importance of inclusive, mutual and genuine cooperation between various ethnics and countries.
International students from 44 countries and regions set up display booths to exhibit and sell traditional delicacies and crafts associated with their home cultures.
The participant students put on their colorful ethnic attire and gathered at the Meiyuan playgrounds to showcase their national and unique culture and art. Beside the traditional food, crafts and traditional dances, international students themselves were another point of attention, especially for the visitors keen on taking selfies and pictures with them with their stunning and eye-cathching traditional costumes.
During the night time performance, some 300 students from 40 countries put on a grand gala performance cultural shows to entertain the audience.
This year marked another successful event where it attracted large crowds of visitors. All participants, both international students and visitors, enjoyed themselves in a festive ambiance and atmosphere.
During its ten years’ development when it was first held in 2005, WHU Luojia Autumn International Cultural Festival has long become a distinctive brand in terms of campus activity in Wuhan University and an important event for international students.
It has been a witness to the opening up of Hubei Province. In 1936, Wuhan University admitted the first international student of Hubei Province. By the end of 2013, the population of Hubei’s international students has reached 14,400, ranking No.9 in China.
According to statistics, the international students in Hubei come from over 160 countries and regions, the number of students from Pakistan, India, South Korea, Vietnam, the United States and Nepal ranking top 6, respectively.
