Cooperation in Food Ssciences Between SCUT and New Zealand Campus News

On September 30th, New Zealand Consul General in Guangzhou Rebecca Needham paid a visit to South China University of Technology (SCUT).

 At the meeting hall of Liwu Building of Science and Technology, Ms. Needham and her delegation had conversations with directors from SCUT International Office and School of Light Industry and Food Science.

During the meeting, Ms. Needham showed her faith that SCUT and New Zealand share a solid foundation to establish closer communication and cooperation in food sciences in the future. 

She praised that the academic strength of food science and engineering in SCUT is among the top three best in Chinese universities, while New Zealand plays a world-leading role in food studies, particularly taking food security as one of the country’s first priorities in scientific research. 

To extend beyond the current partnership, the two parties are expected to give more mutual efforts in idea changes between faculties and students, scientific research cooperation, and university-enterprise relations. 

Along with the New Zealand delegation, Professor Charles Brennan from Lincoln University, New Zealand, is also present on the meeting. Professor Brennan is currently an adjunct professor at SCUT, teaching Food Nutrition and Hygiene, a short-term course lasting for half a month.
